TL;DR: Yes, news trading is allowed in the Stellar 1-Step Challenge and FundedNext Account. However, once you reach the FundedNext Account, a special News Profit Split Rule applies: only 40% of profits made within 5 minutes before and after a high-impact news event will be counted toward your account. Losses remain fully your responsibility.
Yes, news trading is permitted across all account types at FundedNext — including the Stellar 1-Step Challenge Account and FundedNext Account.
However, traders must carefully follow specific guidelines, especially after reaching the FundedNext Account.
What’s Allowed
You can trade during news events in both the Challenge Account and FundedNext Account.
You may also hold running trades during news events without restrictions.
No restrictions apply during low-impact or unrelated news events.
News Profit Split Rule (FundedNext Account Only)
Once you receive the FundedNext Account, trades executed during high-impact news events are subject to this profit adjustment rule:
Time Window
Applies to trades opened or closed within 5 minutes before and after a listed high-impact news event.
This creates a 10-minute window where the rule is active.
Profit Adjustment
Only 40% of the profit from trades during this window will be counted toward your account balance.
Losses during this window are fully applied and not adjusted.
Applicable To
Both market execution trades and pending orders, including SL and TP triggers.
Partial Closures
If you partially close a trade during the news window, the entire trade will be affected — only 40% of the profit will be counted.
Impact on Performance Reward and Account Status
The adjusted profit will affect your reward eligibility and net profit for the cycle.
If your account ends below the initial balance after adjustment, you cannot request a withdrawal.
Example Calculation:
Positive Scenario
Total profit excluding news trades: $10,000
Profit from news trades: $3,000
News profit counted: 40% of $3,000 = $1,200
Final account profit = $10,000 + $1,200 = $11,200
Loss Scenario with Adjustment Reset
Initial Balance: $100,000
End Balance: $101,000
Account value excluding news profit: $98,000
News profit: $3,000 → 40% = $1,200
Adjusted balance: $98,000 + $1,200 = $99,200
Since the adjusted balance is below $100,000, no withdrawal is allowed.
However, next cycle will start from the original $100,000 balance (reset benefit granted in this case).
When Does the News Rule Apply?
Only during listed high-impact news events that directly correlate with the traded pair.
Example:
EUR/USD during USD or EUR high-impact news = Rule applies
EUR/USD during CNY news = No rule applies
Please trade responsibly during news events. FundedNext is not liable for losses incurred due to volatility during these periods.
